The Elimination Diet

What is the Elimination Diet? 

The Elimination Diet can help most people figure out what food is causing an inflammatory reaction and triggering negative responses in your body. This diet works by severely limiting the foods you eat for several weeks, and then slowly reintroducing them, one at a time. During this process, you can usually tell which foods are causing a bad reaction and learn to avoid them in the future. Most common inflammatory/highly reactive foods are assessed by this diet. However, this diet is not comprehensively healthy. While most people lose weight on it, it is not for weight loss. It is gluten and dairy free, but is not grain free, and is not specifically tailored for anything beyond finding inflammatory triggers. If you feel inflamed from your diet, or think there is one food that causes symptoms but cannot discover what food that is, this is a good place to start.
