Patient Questions about Coronavirus
Can I Be Tested?
We have a few test kits for primary care patients who are currently experiencing symptoms. They are not instant kits – they will be sent to the lab and the results will take a few days.
Testing will be by appointment only and will occur in my parking lot, not the office. I will wear a mask and gloves. I will talk to give you instructions to you by phone before coming out to your car.
You will know the test results as soon as I do, via the patient portal.
Should I Be Tested?
There are 2 good reasons for people who suspect they have the virus to be tested. A positive result lets you know that you need to protect others with very strict isolation. Knowing how many people have the virus helps the public health effort to understand the number and location of cases.
Are Lyme and Mold Patients at Increased Risk of COVID-19?
Nobody has any idea whether the sort of immune system issues associated with Lyme and Mold exposure make you more susceptible to the coronavirus. My sense is that it is not a major factor in how you would fare if you develop the virus. Nonetheless, I encourage all of my patients to socially distance as much as possible
Office Procedures
For as long as the pandemic lasts I am willing to do telemedicine appointments unless a physical exam is needed.
You can call the office at (540) 463-2882 to get a telemedicine appointment.
